Campobello Island is a hidden gem that hasn’t always been so hidden- this was the summer retreat of Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s family, and his summer home every year until 1921, the year he contracted polio. Famous not just for its natural beauty, our island’s unusual geography- a Canadian island whose only land access is from the United States- means there’s a long spirit of cross-national cooperation. In fact, Campobello is the home of the only international park- Roosevelt International Park is jointly administered by both the United States and Canada. When you come stay with us, we definitely recommend taking a tour! Luckily for our guests, the Roosevelt House is only a one kilometer walk along the beach from the inn, which has a beach access pathway.
